Hi Folks,
Last year I called the Ortho company and asked questions about their
'Sevin' product. I didn't get the full answer, or perhaps the answer I
wanted. Does anyone know if Sevin will harm wildlife, birds in particular?
Last Summer I used the Sevin for Japanese beetles and a bluejay was catching
the beetles as they flew away. It didn't seem to hurt the bluejay, but still
can't say for sure that it was the same bird I saw later, but since I had
only two birds, I figured it was the same bird that had eaten at least two
freshly sprayed bugs. Also some beetles flew into the bird bath and I wonder
if the Sevin would be strong enough to be harmful after being diluted that
much. Anyway, I clean the bath after spraying, and don't add food to the
feeders until after I spray, but still don't know if the Sevin is bird
friendly. I like the Sevin since it seemed to be the safer of the products
for veggies and flowers, and trees, etc. Any suggested appreciated! Thanks!
Take care, Joe.
