OK, but I've written a lot of programs and I never have needed
to do arithmetic on times (as opposed to dates) except in a few
cases I've needed to count seconds.  At most I've needed to
store the time, say the time a transaction was posted.  I don't
need to know if it was done in the last 30 minutes, whereas I do
need to know if it has been done in the last 30 days.
