 SH> You've got it right.:-)

Good, but I wonder why they used that word "client". No answer
required, just musing about it...

 SH> I tried a Google search to answer that question aqnd could not come up

As you will have seen, the problem is now solved.

At the suggestion of a helper in another area, I have written a
WATTCP.CFG file as follows:
  my_ip=BOOTP
  netmask=255.254.0.0
  gateway="REMIP"
  nameserver=203.24.77.6
  nameserver=203.24.77.1
  sockdelay=45
  hostname=Mine
  mss=1500
  bootpto=60
  domainslist="picknowl.com.au"
and altered the line in ARACHNE.CFG from "TCPconfig PPPTCP.CFG"
to "TCPconfig WATTCP.CFG". I have linked shift-F4 to FTP-WIZ.EXE
to call it up easily, and it works!

I can logon with Arachne then jump to FTP-WIZ and back to Arachne
as much as I like, without the need to logoff and logon as I go
from one to another. Since every new logon costs me 22c for
another local phone connection, the less times I do it the
better!

I was worried today as i couldn't connect for my email, but it
turned out the ISP was down. Phew! I thought I'd found a weakness
in the new setup

 SH> programs for accessing the Internet that require packet drivers don't
 SH> like the Windows 2000 packet driver I have loaded. FTP07 simply quits
 SH> when I try to run it in a DOS box.

Can't you unload the Win2k packet driver? Or reboot without
reloading it?

I found a package containing software to release selected TSRs.
The header for the doc file shows it is TSR Utilities Version 3.5
by Kim Kokkonen TurboPower Software 10/18/93. In spite of its
great age, it works well with MS-DOS 6.22. Whether it will work
with the DOS behind Win2k is another matter...

Look for TRSCOM29.ZIP at http://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/>. Sorry i
can't get you closer but I don't have a copy of the full index to
the site -- perhaps i should download it some time ;-)

 SH> However, the Google search referred me to Charles Angelich's site,
 SH> http://www.undercover.com/dosghost. Even though my assessment of
 SH> Charles is less than flattering,

We all have our own opinions of others. None of us is perfect, as
yet. I take him as I find him, and a lot of what he says is
extremely valuable. If he ruffles my feathers I try to ignore it.

 SH> .................................. the links on his site do point to
 SH> other options, particularly ones on the English Demon sites. I'd go do
 SH> some exploration if I were you.

As I said, the problem is now solved, and in just the way I
wanted!
