Well, bottom line, it doesn't come included with Clipper...

Well, I haven't done it, but have you played around with the database
desktop? I assume these are DBase databases, right? You might have
better luck with Paradox databases, as they support more datatypes, etc.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I am pretty sure it can be done, I
have just never had the need to do it.

I couldn't tell you why it won't work in Delphi 1....But it does work
really slick in 2.0! In 1.0, if you do what I explained earlier, you
only open them once, or in 2.0, you only open them once, since you only
have 1 "instance" of them. If you add a datasource and table to each
form, them you would have to open each "instance" of them separately.

Well, all I can tell you is that programming in 32 bits is MUCH easier
than in 16. No more problems with data segments being too big (well, I
suppose you COULD make it too big, but....), better compiler, faster,
etc. The only problem is if your target audience is still running
windows 3.x. I know what you want can be done, though.

I don't think any of them will give you the combination of performance
and RAD capabilities of Delphi. I don't think any of them even come
close.

Unless you are using all MS products (Access, mainly).

Well, keep with them, I think they will be a source of lots of help to
you...

I'll play around with the database desktop and see if I can figure out
how to create an index with a function attached to it.
