pmtermsr.lzh by Peter Fitszimmons is a good example of accessing the COM
port as well as fast scrolling in a PM window.

You don't need to do direct screen writes, use the Vio* API's.
Documentation is available for these in PRCP.INF, aka PRCP.ZIP and
INF16BIT.ZIP.
