Wow.  I can't believe how much I just learned.  In the 8 college level 
mathematics courses I took we dealt with absolutes, limits, unlimited 
series, infinite series, imaginary series, unsolvable series, 
irrationals, disjoints, points, and more.  Toss in some engineering 
statistics and discrete math and we've got a wide range of things to 
deal with.  I believe your viewpoint is that of the naive.
