Hmmm, it could be your video card drivers.

There were underline problems with Cirrus cards and certain programs back
when Warp Red came out. They were still around with Warp Blue. I'd be a bit
surprised if IBM are still using the older drivers but with IBM, who knows
what they're doing!

Anyway, I have heard that there are newer drivers available for Cirrus
cards that fix some problems. I don't know which problems as I don't own a
Cirrus card and didn't take too much notice of the topic.

That might be your best hope of a qucik fix anyway.
