It could be either intermod or crossmod. The end result is the same, but
they are generated differently. In the case of intermod, there isn't a
wnole lot you can do about it... the signals are peoduced when two
transmitters which are physically close together are both on the air at
the same time. With Crossmod there is a cure however. It's caused by
receiver overload from nearby transmitters on nearby frequencies. The
cure in this case is to install bandpass filtering at the antenna of your
tranceiver to cut down on out-of-band interference. This is why HT's that
have extended receive cability are very prone to crossmod while others
without this capability are virtually immune to it, though they still get
intermod.
