it's likely the coding... as an example, i have some callers here that cannot
use the internal ZMODEM in my bbs package. i have three or four other ZMODEM
packages configured on the system just because of this. i have one guy that
cannot use any of them except Texas Zmodem... why? i don't know but he can
send a receive with no problems with that one and the others are just asking
for trouble with his system. on the other hand, i have a few here that can
use any of them except Texas Zmodem... don't ask me why... i just give the a
varity and let them find the one that works for them...

my major problem with them (and several rockwell based) is that they "loose"
the ability to hear the ling ring... at least they don't report it to my
software. neither does the RI (Ring Indicate) line show any change... i've 4
or 5 of the things here, different models and flavors and they all exhibit
the same problem... i had to turn them off and back on _several_ times a
day... the only way i knew when they were goofed up was if i had a ringer on
the line and heard it ringing without also hearing the modem respond... t'was
a real PITA to say the least... i tried all sorts of initstrings and settings
to no avail... yes, they had the correct port speed saved in the NVRAM slots.
in fact, both NVRAM slots were identicle. about the only thing i could figure
was that they were somehow stuffing up after receiving so many AT (hey, are
you still there?) prods from my mailer... it sends an AT to them every 5
minutes or so... i even tried having it send ATZ and AT&F1 with no change in
how they were acting...
ml>> if only rockwell would build

hhahahahaha, yeah, but their space stuff is at least reliable and not full of
bugs and incompatibilities with other stuff >
