Hi David,
You wrote to Andrew Grillet:
DN>AG> I'd love another caddy, but no one seems able to supply one :-<
To Andrew:- You're looking in the wrong places!
DN>I cannot believe that caddies are unobtainable in the U.K. Have I
DN>returned through a time warp?
No, just a cost warp :-(
DN>There are loads of mail-order places in the U.S.A. that will sell you
DN>caddies for about $5 each. You can even get them in different colours
DN>("colors" to the Yanks) so that you can select your CD without having
DN>to read the label. ["Sure beats learnin' to read!" ]
They were available in PC World, last time I plucked up enough courage
to venture in my nearest one (there were piles of Win 95 blocking the
aisles), but the cost from them was beyond belief...
And they didn't have the protective door mechanism :-(
DN>There must be some place that can supply you with spare caddies. I
DN>presume you buy your floppy disks mail-order, since nobody in the
DN>profession pays retail. Can't the vendor who sells you your consumable
DN>media sell you caddies too?
Action (0800 333333 in the UK) lists them:- 3 pack, different colours,
Code 10-89-40, cost (sit down before reading it) 19.95 pounds + VAT
(ie approx 10 USD _each_) :-(
DN>If not, I can send you the address of the company in Detroit from
DN>which I used to buy my caddies.
It may well be cheaper than the UK sources...
DN>Do any of the other European-based members of this echo have problems
DN>obtaining such things?
No problems except the cost, so I bought a Nakamchi, no caddies and
seven CDROMs at a time :-). It's very nice to have DEVCON available
without swapping CDROMs all the time, the only trouble is that
DEVCON 9 + DDSK fills it on its own (so I don't put the LAN disks in).
