I had the misfortune to pick up the Charlotte Observer this morning and read
the obituary of Claire Bradford. I know none of you knew her, but she was a
flight instructor down at Carowings Flight Service in Rock Hill, SC at the
same time I was one of their charter pilots.
She left Carowings, taught at Southeast Airmotive for a while, then managed
to get hired by CCAir (USAir Express) where she flew Jetstreams. From there,
there was a stint at American Eagle, followed by a 1st Officer slot on the
B-737 with United Airlines.
For reasons I don't know, she subsequently left United (furloughed?) and was
working for AOPA in Frederick, MD when she died. (I have no idea of what.)
She leaves a daughter behind. Claire was 39.
Damn.
