Hello Tom -

TW> Since this come up I have made several searches and only
TW> found the Link on the Hard Drive after streaming from yuor
TW> site.

Load those '.m3u', 'wax', or 'ram' files into notepad and
cut-n-paste the URL there into your browser and you will
download the music file as any other download and can save it
wherever you chose to. Keep in mind these are _streaming_ audio
files at a low bkps rate and not the quality of sound they
would be otherwise. The streaming version can be 1meg while the
CD-DA quality MP3 (for instance) would be 3-6meg or more. The
wave is 10 times the hi-quality MP3 so the actual CD-DA sound
track would be 30-60meg. I have one recent file that is 70meg
as a WAV file.

The short 30-45second 'snippets' of music at the top of the
page are from 128-160kbps (CD-DA is 320kbps) and you can see
the size of those. Multiply that by the normal 3+minutes of
each file and you can see how large the downloads would be
if not streamed at a lower bit rate.

I don't recall which incantation of Windows you are normally
using but here using W2K and browsing as 'Admin' my temporary
files are in a half dozen oddball named subdirectories found at:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ Content.IE5>

All the subidirectories have the 'system' attribute set so that
they are normally 'invisible' to you unless you uncheck the
'hide' function for Explorer or use 'dir /a:s' at the command
line in a dosbox. :-\

All of my music files are either MP3, WMA, and a few RM if you
go to the Xmas Music page for RealAudio playback. Microsoft has
a plethora of extensions for audio, video, combined audio and
video, etc. that I won't even try to recall but it's a bunch.
:-)

TW> But on others I find the Whole File.. Those other sites
TW> though allowed a Right Mouse Click Download to a folder of
TW> the file itself without playing it.

True, if I only had direct download finding the files would be
easy enough but for many people the time involved would be
discouraging. Streaming the audio as it transfers allows you to
cancel if the music is not as you expected it to be and move on
to something that might be more to your tastes. :-)

My collection is extremely 'ecclectic' and not of a single
genre of music. There should be at least one music file that
everyone can appreciate but it's not unlikely that 90% will not
be their 'thing'.

The "Dueling Banjos" I created myself from memory (no sheet
music to go by) is 6:1 times more often chosen than any other
music on the page which explains, in part, why I have embedded
it to auto-start when the page is loaded. For the majority this
saves them some time. :-)

You can just click the 'stop' button as the page is loading and
it won't start nor interfere with listening to other music (it
does not auto-repeat that would be a bit 'much'). :-)
