Why would I do that?  The FTN schtuff I have working strips out NOTHING,
even if it is obviously wrong.  I refuse to mess with other peoples
messages.

As well as the willingness to fix it.

That is why I am posting here in this particular echo.  Whoever/whatever is
responsible is not saying, not that it would really matter since there is
no mechanism to force anyone to correct their "bugs".
