-=> Quoting mark lewis to JIM HOLSONBACK <=- JH> The APC 420 Smart UPS Pro unit I have here just uses a 12V 7AH JH> battery - - just 84 watt-hours of power. ml> wow, that's a "little" one > all mine are 650s and up with two ml> 1000s and an 1100... ml> FWIW: yes, the APC UPS' are what i'm wanting to either enhance, ml> extend, or replace... but $$$ are a concern... A thought. Find a cheap *true* UPS. One that includes filtering. Then just run that off an inverter hooked up to some honking big batteries. You can get away with a cheap and dirty inverter if the UPS has good enough filters. I wish I'd grabbed some old Compaq TTL mono displays years back when I had a chance. You see, they got power (5 & 12 volts?) from a 3-pin DIN connector on the back of the old Compaq Deskpro 286 systems. Rigging power for one of *those* would be easy. And 12V computer PSes aren't *that* hard to track down. Of course, even with one of those monitors, you'd be limited to Herc & mono EGA modes (yes, there's an EGA mode designed for Herc type monitors). --- FMailX 1.60* Origin: Shadowgard (1:105/50) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 105/50 360 106/2000 633/267 |
