Many years ago in this echo, and also in the CIVIL_LIB echo, a discussion came up about homosexuals and their `agenda'. When I raised objections to the homosexual crowd's push to legitimize what is in truth nothing more than a sexual deviation, I was cursed, reviled, accused of `homophobia', yadida yadida. I pointed out that it wouldn't be long before homosexuality would be pushed into our schools. I was called a liar, an extremist, and a lot of other things. Well.......Otto seems to be the only one of that crowd left in here, with the possible exception of `Whiney Wayne' Chirnside. So....read it and weep: Welcome to The Patriot Post Monday Brief - Vol. 09 No. 23 Village Academic Curriculum: 'Tolerance' Forced on Kids The Alameda, California, public school board voted last week, 3-2, in favor of a "Safe Schools" curriculum that will introduce pupils in the first through fifth grades to homosexual -- or what they prefer to call lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) -- content. The real kicker to the story is that because the board's legal counsel does not consider the controversial curriculum to be health or sex education, parents do not have the option of withdrawing their children from the courses. The curriculum includes books like "And Tango Makes Three" for second graders, where two male penguins raise their young. The "Who's in a Family" discussion guide asks teachers to help first graders identify different "types" of family: "If a student responds that one family in the book is made up of a mother, a father, and two children and a cat, you may acknowledge that some families look like this, but ask students for other examples of what a family can look like," the guide states. Trish Spencer, a school board member who voted against the curriculum, pointed out that surveys conducted within the school district showed that students were at more risk for bullying for religious preference and race than for their sexual orientation. "We know that there are children that are already being bullied for their religious beliefs. ... I couldn't see any effort on behalf of the district to teach empathy and being an ally to those students." --- *Durango b301 #PE** Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 14/250 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 222/2 SEEN-BY: 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 690/734 712/848 800/432 801/161 SEEN-BY: 801/189 2222/700 2320/100 105 5030/1256 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
