subject: The 000 hoax all over again

Hi Joe,

The Telephone number field in the Nodelist is the SAME field for ALL Zones,
IE by design it is recognised by Fidonet S/W as a PSTN Telephone number. If
something else is represented there then there is NOTHING stopping that
value being interpreted by a Node as if it was a Telephone number and
attempt to dial it. As it happens, even Fidonet is not happy with a Node
listing an "invalid" phone number, let alone an invalid IP
address.

The reality of this situation is that a different "convention"
implemented by ONE zone does not stop other Zones attempting to interpret
it as a (invalid) Telephone No.

Cheers...........pk.
