ST> I'm sorry that your little lovepest didn't make it...but this
ST> little girl decided to start laying eggs...she has laid three
ST> times now...she is sitting on 4...so I'm looking for a male for
ST> her...hopefully by the first of the month...she will have a
ST> male here even if he will be in another room...for a period of
ST> time...;) I love her dearly and it is so sad to see her
ST> sitting on her babies that won't be...;(
Is there anyway to get them to stop once they start
laying, other than breeding them? Isn't it dangerous to
their bodies after a while?
ST> I'll bet you do miss her...I don't know what I would do if
ST> anything happened to one of mine...;( I'm so attatched to
ST> them...I think more so than to my kids...but then again...my
ST> kids were just on loan to me to raise to be on their own...these
ST> guys need me...;)
Yeah, you expect your kids to "fly" someday, but not your
birdies. I was real happy when the cockatiel book i got
along with her said that they can live 20 or 30 years.
But from the start she had some sort of an off-and-on
eye infection. Went to the avian vet several times (each
time costing more than the original price of the bird).
It would clear up, then come back. I think that is finally
what did her in... it just spread. But she was always cheer-
ful and happy and full of life. I'm glad it was quick and
hopefully not too painful.
