From: press{at}motorsport.com
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 16, 2004) - Nine entries from nine
different states have already been received for this year's Hoosier Tire
Midwest Masters Classic winged 360-cubic-inch sprint car race for drivers
age fifty and over. The $3,000-to-win, $300-to-start Classic will take
place on Friday, June 4, at the Knoxville Raceway during the National
Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend. The entrants include Dave
Heskin of Minnesota, Earnest Jennings of Oklahoma, Wayne Reutimann, of
Florida, Randy Droescher of Iowa, Oscar Smith of Michigan, Miles Grein of
South Dakota, James Bevan of Kansas, Gerry Robison of Pennsylvania, and
Carl "Midge" Miller of New Jersey.
All racers have cars entered, with the exception of veteran
Gerry Robison of Dublin, Pennsylvania, who is looking for a top-notch ride
for the Seniors Tour-type event. Perhaps the biggest surprise in the list
of pre-entries is Wayne Reutimann of Zephyrhills, Florida, co-winner of the
1979 "Little 500" with Danny Smith. Reutimann will pilot his own
Snyder-powered Avenger 'Double-Zero' sprinter, sponsored by Case
Contracting, James Rivard Pontiac-GMC Trucks and Barfield's. He finished
seventeenth in the 1998 Masters Classic.
