Yes I was, for close to 2 years.  My dad fought at Leyte Bay in
WWII and was a 5" gunner at the Battle of Surigao Strait when they
crossed the T.  Here's the ship he was on:

He was on the ship when it got hit by the two Kamikaze attacks on Jan 5-
6, 1945 and participated in the liberation of Okinawa.
