   Well, cold and up the nose may not be the best way to take it, but I
strongly protest against having turnips, that I think is highly
underestimated food, used as a bat in the debate this way! :)

   As for the entire Z7 idea, it's doomed from day one. There's no way we
would create yet another zone i Fidonet now that we've eventually realized
that the entire zone idea was a really stupid one. Today we could easily
scrap the entire zone thing and solve lots of problems related to e.g.
seen-bys, dupcheck, msgid, zonegates, Bink-folders etc. with one pencil
draw.

   What I would suggest that the Russians, that's not happy with belonging
to zone 2, should do is simply individually apply for a zone 6 nodenumber.
At least those few nodes that are located east of the Ural (aka Asian
nodes) should easily qualify for a zone 6 node number IMHO.
