DOS is not dead yet.
This is what i picked up in the CompuServe a few days ago.

While the "suits" are all busy getting ready for Comdex in Las Vegas next
week,
I thought I'd sneak onto CompuServe and let everyone know that the
official announcement for PB/DOS 3.5 is only days away.
I've only got a few minutes until they discover that I'm not really counting
extensions cords to make sure we have enough. So briefly, PB/DOS 3.5
includes the following new features:
-- Direct support for Console I/O through STDIN, STDOUT and STDERR.
Now you can easily write apps which accept input from redirected files and
can support output file redirection as well. Great for adding WinCGI
support to your DOS programs.
-- Arrays in user-defined types! That's right, now you can put numeric or
fixed length string arrays right into your user-defined types.
-- ASCIIZ strings. An ASCIIZ string is the same as a fixed-length string,
except that the last valid byte in the string is always a null (CHR$(0)).
No more RTRIM$ to get rid of all the trailing spaces in your fixed-length
strings.
-- RND(x, y) now returns an **INTEGER** between "x" and "y". No more
math formulas for calculating integer class random numbers!
-- Index pointers! Yep, now you can place and address into a pointer
variable and access memory beyong the initial element without changing
your pointer variable.
-- There's lot's, lot's more. And I've saved the best for last. Virtual
Arrays! That's right! Now you can allocate arrays in EMS memory up to
the full 32 megabyte limit of the EMS spec. No more fighting to cram
more drivers into upper memory so that you have room to allocate all of
your arrays. Just stick 'em into EMS memory!
Oops! I hear the suits shuffling this way. I gotta go. Don't forget,
this is just between you and me. So be sure to tell everyone you know!

So. if you know nothing about anything you will not get into trouble.
Well, I hope you know something now even without this Comp.. stuff :-))))
