there was also a complete rewrite of frontdoor and the associated utils
that come with it... that is/was one reason that it took so long between
versions at that time... i can't recall the specifics of why there was a
need for a complete rewrite but doing it allowed for additional
capabilities to be added later... it is too bad that the 'net got in the
way and distracted so many :(
