Hi Wanda,
WG> I have never quilted before. I don't want to do a full blanket, but

WG> My idea is to use the shirts that my sons wore when they were younger,

WG> Does this sound do-able to a non-quilter? I'd really like to give

Yes, this is do-able. I have the template for doing full sized (bed)
quilts but I don't see why it wouldn't work as well in smaller form.
One thing that the instructions said to do with the fabrics is to back
the m with fusable interfacing before you do any cutting. This gives
them a bit more stability so that they don't stretch all out of shape.
I'll have to look at the pattern again when things calm down a bit more
to see if there's anything else that would be helpful.
Things are still a bit hectic because our older daughter got married on
Saturday. I made her dress, as well as those for her 3 attendants.
Rachel's dress was princess seamed of the bridal satin. It had a chapel
length train cut as part of the back; V shaped neckline in front aand
back; buttons going from the back neckline down to a bow almost at her
feet; short, shirred, off the shoulder sleeves and a shirred drape at
the neckline. The bow and sleeves had lace appliques; the dress itself
had a lace motif on the inside taken from teh fabric of my wedding gown.
The veil was 2 tiers of illusion (bottom one was ended just aove the
bow) attatched to a wreath of pearls.
The attendants wore a dusty blue/grey in the same basic pattern but a
tea length and no drape, bow, buttons or lace appliques. The maid of
honor was in the same style but a dusty rose color. All the girls had
petticoats underneath to pouf out the skirt. All four girls wore pearl
necklaces and earrings & white shoes. The men all wore black tuxes; the
groom had full tails. Everything went off well except that Steve forgot
to lift Rachel's face veil when he gave her away so we had a moment of
concern when she had to blow out a candle. That ended up ok. The night
before, Deborah (her sister and maid of honor) cut her right middle
finge while decorating and needed 5 stitches. She almost forgot to get
David's ring, remembered just before they went over to the church
building from where they dressed.
I know this is a bit off from what you asked but I knew I'd be shot if I
didn't post a description of the dresses, etc. Rachel looked like a
china doll.
Catch you later,
Ruth
