-=> While eating Chocolate, Desiree had this to say: <=-
DL> How have things been at your house??? It's gotten chaotic here...
DL> but that's when I thrive the best!
RF> Well things are not real great. Jeremy is not bad, but not really
RF> great either. His attitude is my biggest problem at times and I have
RF> been in a 2 week depression. Its pretty much over now so this note
RF> came at a good timing otherwise I may not have answered. We also lost
RF> a baby in the family so its been tough here.
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Take care of yourself.
I know about attitude! Cory is full of it most of the time. It's amazing
how much can be packed into such a small body and mind! :\
DL> Cory will be placed in an individualized academic program...
DL> with an expectancy of 80% accuracy. He is capable of this. Which means
DL> he will have to try a little harder to concentrate. There will be
RF> Good, if this is what he needs. He won't be bored that's for sure so
RF> boredom won't be an excuse anymore for behavior.
It's very good. Instead of him cruising along, he will be challenged. He
has this need to be the best at everything. It just came along naturally,
and of course when it comes to his sister we try to curb it as much as
we can... it causes many a fight between Cory and Brienne and it's not
fair for Cory to belittle her just because she hasn't had the practice
that he has.
DL> intense focus on his fine motor skills.... primarily printing. He is
DL> still all over the page... even when it is lined. There has been a new
RF> Yes, my Jonathon was really bad. He was in a special program for
RF> that in the other district. It's much improved. Jeremy had wonderful
RF> handwriting until the 2nd grade. He said it was because he was
RF> required to write the answers too fast.
DL> reward/incentive program set up, which he seems to respond to well.
RF> Good that may help.
As of today the aide has loosened the reins because Cory has been showing
her that he is going to be responsible during free time and lunch time.
His supervision will be less restrictive unless needed.
DL> The aide will be using the (???) B.F. Skinner model for pro-social
DL> behavior. I will be getting more information about this one.
RF> I don't know anything about this program unless I heard about it but
RF> don't know the name. When you find out about it let me know and I can
RF> tell you if it is something I know some of.
I definately will. I will be using a new incentive program for Cory to
based on a model that his friend's mother uses. Since I am now not working
I will have more time and energy to do more. Daycare, since my sitter had
to quit was costing us $830/month. In a good month I make about that. Kinda
stupid to keep working to pay the daycare!
DL> The school wants Cory's psychiatrist to do academic testing again. He
DL> was last tested at 4 years old, but there has been alot of development
DL> since then.
RF> Well, that could be good, except I'm not sure I trust school
RF> anything, but that is my opinion.
I don't. From past experience. At least the school board knows that now
I will fight tooth and nail when it comes to my son. I don't think they
want to 'p' me off... again.
DL> There wasn't anything that I wouldn't have agreed to.... but they also
DL> know I need to sign the IEP... so this is all just a precursor to the
DL> meeting later this month. It is by no means is complete... they just
DL> want to see how much I will agree to.
RF> Are they going to start any of this this year or are they waiting
RF> until next year? Usually thats what they do. Are you going to sign?
This will all be started soon or already has been started. I'll get more
details on tuesday when the IEP happens. Here, there is an IEP at least 4
times a year. The final one is to review the year and make plans for next
year. Especially if there has been staff changes. IF nothing changes for
the worse I will sign... after of course my wants are added.
RF> Are there a few more things you would like added in?
There always is. I always stipulate treatment of certain behaviors so that
at least home and school are on the same wavelength. Consistency is the
key with Cory. Change the rules on him and that's when alot of the attitude
shows up. And I will never let *them* tell *me* how things are going to go.
DL> I'll let you know how that meeting goes.
RF> Sure do, would like to hear more especially on this behavior program.
Cory has been place back on the clonidine. His behavior was so bad over the
past couple of weeks that the doctor figured it would be the best thing.
After one dose last night Cory woke up this morning, didn't whine about
being tired, got dressed without any reminders and fuss, ate his breakfast,
and got ready for school without any problems. This may just be a fluke,
since he had 2 absolutely horrible days previously. IF I hold my breath,
I'm liable to turn blue and fall down! hahahahaha All evening he has been
quieter and more stable... he had a second dose this morning. Geez, I hope
this is a good sign!
DL> Take care,
RF> You too!
Always. :) :)
