| subject: | Cluster algorithm |
hi Thomas,
TS> 4 sectors is the smallest size FAT formatters usually apply.
TS> 2-sector-clusters are only used on 1.2MB floppy disks. Anyway, disks
TS> are handled in a special way, the clusters of 1.4MB disks are 1
TS> sector in size.
And OS/2's FDISK isn't an exception: I just removed the BootMgr from my my
(now) secondary harddisk and reformed it as FAT: that made a 1.8 MB G:
partition with 4 sector wide clusters. Time to refind BOOTDMOD from the
archive diskettes before I make this my Binkley outbound... (I'm a bit
whimpy to try let PartitionResizer reintegrate this into either the 101MB
FAT D: partion at the beginning of this HD ('cause it's my Warp boot, and
the CD drive I installed it from is now dead) or the 100 MB F: HPFS
partition in between (even though nothing special is stored thereon: it's
my testdrive - anything lost can be restored from the original archives.
C: and E: are both oon the new drive: both HPFS, with C: being the OS/2
2.11 serviced and fixpacked thing I'm realy happy with, and E: just
anything that should be available to both and be kept (unlike F:)).
regards,
hugo (long with many (())'s)
