The strings I use here with BGFax & a Zoom V34Plus are:
AT&FBS38=5S7=20S11=50S95=43|    (for Rockwell-based start at&f&c1&d2 etc)
AT&G2L3+FAA=1+FCR=1\A3|         (guard tones &g2 not used in US)
AT+FLID="PackLink_Node_#1"+FDCC=1,5|  ("max_20_characters")
AT      ATtention or Attention Terminal
&F      First factory default for PCs (includes &c1&d2m1L1s0=0 etc)
B       Sets CCITT spec for 1200bps connects
S38=5   Reduces delay before forced disconnect from default 20 to 5 secs
S7=20   Reduces remote carrier wait time from default 50 to 20 secs
S11=50  Hi-speed dialing
S95=43  Sets connect messages to include: CONNECT (TX:speed) /ARQ,
        error correction and data compression
&G2     switches on guard tones (not used in US)
L3      Loudest speaker volume
+FAA=1  Switches on adaptive answering for Class2
+FCR=1  Switches on Class2 receive capability
\A3     For MNP4 calls ensures highest block size of 256 byte
+FLID   Fax header string (alpha-numeric)
+FDCC=1,5 DCE capabilities parameters
|       Return character your software uses (pipe for FD, ^C for others)
