 I don't know about that, Dave. Seems to me, you are connecting at the
 highest possible rating for the 56K by your getting connected at 46-48K.
 As with the 28K, most will connect no higher than 26.4. Or those with a
 33.6, connect at about 31.4

 Oh, I will! It disappoints me though, that the 28.8 USR WinModem I have,
 (which has been upgraded to the 33.6K), won't go to the 56K as I was
 mistakenly led to believe it could. It's funny how this modem can be
 backward compatible all the way down to 150 - 300bps, but can't be upwardly
 compatible to the 56K. :'(
 Although, I understand that if the technology went to 128K, I'd be asking
 for too much for a unit that cost less than $50.! ;)

 True, I'm thinking of upgrading my daughters 14.4 to this 33.6, and install
