Whether a version upgrade or a competitive upgrade, the rules for
upgrading have gotten rather lax these days (perhaps trying to one-up
the competition?) I suspect you are correct in that WPDOS would
probably install without the license number. I'm sure I'm a bit biased
because whenever I was stumped on how to do something in Word, I would
switch to WP to get the job done. IMO, Word probably wouldn't be so
popular if it weren't pre-installed on so many new systems. Although
I've had the various incarnations of Word I could use, I _choose_ to
use WP because of the superior, intuitive functions that *I* use!
