And here he just babbles incoherently. This little anecdote simply illustrates Klahn's gross misuse of the words "lie" and "deception." He has already conceded the actual subject of the thread. ~> This entire exchange has been filled with Croasmun's lies. His ~> greatest deception was when he cited Chinni as a source proving ~> that I was wrong, but when I found Chinni's interview with ~> Shearer and showed it supported me more than Croasmun, he ~> switched to claiming all Chinni had was what Shearer said, but ~> Kovach, in his book, said something different. The "source" was Cody Shearer. In an interview conducted long after the events, he said he got phone calls almost immediately after the Chris Matthews show. That is a reporting of a simple, observable, and uncontroversial fact. It proved that Klahn's version of the facts was incorrect. In the same interview, Shearer claimed that Buchanan had threatened to kill him. Neither Klahn nor I have any idea whether that is true, or whether Shearer expanded the story after the fact to make the Matthews gaffe look bigger. And I did not say that it did not happen. However, (1) Shearer did not witness any such threat himself, (2) the people who would have been in a position to witness it simply said in their sworn statements to the police that Buchanan waved a gun and told them to GET AWAY from him, and (3) Shearer himself, AT THE TIME, seems to have left out the death threats. The New York Times coverage of the incident, for example: "Mr. Shearer told the District of Columbia police that an intruder broke into his garage on Sunday, slashed his tires, waved a handgun at two house guests and then fled in a car parked nearby." All the news reports are consistent on that, including Jake Tapper and Salon who contacted the students, Shearer, and Shearer's sister, and the Richmond paper, that got access to the court documents including the affidavits of the students. Death threats would have been a much different charge, and wouldn't be some trivial detail that EVERY story would simply leave out. And, yes, that does say "broke into." --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 SEEN-BY: 5030/1256 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
