DL> Hi Regina,
DL> How have things been at your house??? It's gotten chaotic here...
DL> but that's when I thrive the best!
Well things are not real great. Jeremy is not bad, but not really great
either. His attitude is my biggest problem at times and I have been
in a 2 week depression. Its pretty much over now so this note came at
a good timing otherwise I may not have answered. We also lost a baby
in the family so its been tough here.
DL> Cory's IEP was last week... they held part of it without me... which
DL> was just fine, since it went the way I would have suggested.
Thats good news.
DL> The rest of the IEP will be held the end of the month.
DL> This is what was decided:
DL> Cory will be placed in an individualized academic program...
DL> with an expectancy of 80% accuracy. He is capable of this. Which means
DL> he will have to try a little harder to concentrate. There will be
Good, if this is what he needs. He won't be bored that's for sure so
boredom won't be an excuse anymore for behavior.
DL> intense focus on his fine motor skills.... primarily printing. He is
DL> still all over the page... even when it is lined. There has been a new
Yes, my Jonathon was really bad. He was in a special program for that
in the other district. It's much improved. Jeremy had wonderful
handwriting until the 2nd grade. He said it was because he was required
to write the answers too fast.
DL> reward/incentive program set up, which he seems to respond to well.
Good that may help.
DL> The aide will be using the (???) B.F. Skinner model for pro-social
DL> behavior. I will be getting more information about this one.
I don't know anything about this program unless I heard about it but don't
know the name. When you find out about it let me know and I can tell you
if it is something I know some of.
DL> The school wants Cory's psychiatrist to do academic testing again. He
DL> was last tested at 4 years old, but there has been alot of development
DL> since then.
Well, that could be good, except I'm not sure I trust school anything, but
that is my opinion.
DL> There wasn't anything that I wouldn't have agreed to.... but they also
DL> know I need to sign the IEP... so this is all just a precursor to the
DL> meeting later this month. It is by no means is complete... they just
DL> want to see how much I will agree to.
Are they going to start any of this this year or are they waiting until
next year? Usually thats what they do. Are you going to sign? Are
there a few more things you would like added in?
DL> I'll let you know how that meeting goes.
Sure do, would like to hear more especially on this behavior program.
DL> Take care,
You too!
