  Not quite.

  COMSPEC is *officially* supposed to point to "the command processor".

  Since the environment variables in VDMs and in native OS/2 are distinct,
  this gives us a COMSPEC in VDMs that points to COMMAND, and a COMSPEC in
  native OS/2 that points to CMD.

  And this is, in fact, what we find.

  The "official" info that I'm going by is under
"DETACH" and "examples of
  using CMD.EXE" in the Command Reference.
