Peter Fitzsimmons to Gary Chambers (Orig: 04:03, Mon, Feb 12, 1996):

PF> I don't know what the fascination is with main dialog windows.

It must be my naivete. :) From everything I've read, it appeared to be an
approved method.

PF> They have too many caveats to be worth the trouble (screen
PF> resoltion being the worst -- please try 640x480 through 1600x1200
 PF> before releasing it)

I don't understand. Aside from the obvious (seemingly) hard-coded
coordinates in the resource file, isn't omitting FCF_SHELLPOSITION and
calling WinSetWindowPos with similar hard-coded coordinates creating the
same problem?

PF> ,and writing a real client window with
PF> push-buttons et al is really not that hard.

Would this be accomplished by calling WinCreateWindow to (sort-of)
dynamically build a window (as in my Spin Button example a few weeks ago)?

PF> anyway....what you are after is a WinLoadMenu() followed by a
 PF> WM_UPDATEFRAME message.

Thanks. I apologize for cluttering the echo with questions that are easily
answered in FAQs . Bear with me.
