On 02-02-98, PETER LANE-COLLETT said to CHARLES SCAGLIONE:
PL>I ran the NT checkout program and it worked OK except obviously it said it
PL>didn't like the FAT32 drive and also didn't like my S3 968 video card.
PL>Other people I know who are actually running NT on their hardware couldn't
PL>get the checkout program to either work at all or finish.
PL>So I guess it doesn't really prove much except as usual Microsoft can't do
PL>anything right.
Personal opinions aside, the FAT32 drive *is* an issue if you want to access
it from NT or if it's the boot partition (NT can't boot from a FAT32 C:
drive). The video driver is also an issue - if it's not in the supported
list, you may not get the features you desire (maybe plain ol' VGA) unless S3
(or the card's manufacturer) has a driver for it. I would expect that the
video card is supported but wasn't available when NT 4.0 was introduced. You
can't support what isn't in existence...
