ok... in the 1488 pin 1 is V+  pin 14 is V- (theyre generally somewhere
near +/- 12v (but my notes say 7.5v to 15v)

so you could trace those pins back towards the powersupply end...

I'd expect either a rectifier of sorme sort and some resevoir caopacitors
the design of that could give some clues as to pahw sort of supply it needs,
or possibly a little DC-DC converter

and also work from the other end is there a rectifier that (for an AC
supply) or just that regulator
