A certain relative who will remain nameless told me he and his kid couldn't
afford health insurance. At the time he said this we were standing next to
his nice new truck, talking about his new boat, and hunting trips. Oh, and
his house (granted it is on a mortgage) looks pretty nice too.

Then I have a neighbor who doesn't like to work 5 days a week who also
tells me he can't afford health insurance.

My conclusion from all this is that people don't perceive a benefit from
health insurance because its not money they spend on something that is fun.
