FWIW: MP3 compression does suck some of the 'life' out of the
music when very low rates are required for streaming MP3 over
dialup connections.

I've tried compensation in the _opposite_ direction by pumping
up certain frequencies in the WAV file prior to compression but
the little MP3 'devil' works around the changes leaving a
really horrible mess behind in the process. :-\

Closest thing to a 'solution' I can find, so far, is to use the
equalizers that most newer MP3 players have available. The
settings that reproduce what seems close to the original WAV
file sound is below. This does not mean you will like the sound
any better, only that you will be hearing the sound closer to
the way it was intended to sound when I created it (seems to
work for other MP3s as well?).
