Is this what used to be called HUCK WEAVING?  However, the huck weaving that 
I have seen used embroidery thread, not yarn.
Besides looking like aida cloth, is there an additional raised loop, and that 
is how the weaving is done?
Are you prewashing the fabric to shrink this loop so the fabric is smoother?
In huck weaving, the design would be worked first, then the fabric washed so 
that as the loops shrunk, the design would then be held tighter, and have 
less chance of pulling if snagged.
Where are you buying the fabric?  Name of store?
