i set the pics up so that they were 640 or less wide, and 480 or less
high so that they would fit exactly onto a vga screen, you are quite
right though, i could have done them at 320x240. i'll use jpeg another
time so there wont be any problem with file size. for anybody
interested, i'll upload a scan both as gif, and jpeg at various
compressions, if they want they can give feedback on which is
acceptable. for my money, medium compression jpeg is the best
compromise. i usually keep my work as zipped targas on the system, but
that'd probably be to expensive for std callers.
