Wel, one major favorite is a Japanese 'rice porridge' which sounds awful
and tastes divine. It is close to Congee or Juk except those are poor
imitations. The real thing has as many as 50 different ingredients and
always has at least 15.
I like the steamed foods of which they have hundreds of versions and I
found out I'm very fond of some of the seaweed types. Seaweed isnt what
you think it is, if you've not had it properly prepared by a chef used to
using it. Seaweed salad is a favorite.
I also love the huge variety of 'little pickled items' they have. In the
USA, most of us only think of cucumbers when we think 'pickled' but thats
not how it is out here at all.
