     Most of the stull to activate the IDE controller is o nthe MB or on
the Card in the case of a plug in card. But vthere are Drivers form the
OS that are also set up. These are the ones Most likely to get scrambled
as the others are in a ROM chip.
 You can force the OS to re-install the IDE stuff by deleting the
Controller in the System Device Manager window. Then when reboot it
reinstalls the controller.
