The next major update (6.0) has some significant new batch debugging
features, including viewing variables and aliases, and a popup window
of the batch file highlighting the current line. (And don't ask when
it's going to be released; no date has been set yet!)

That's almost certainly a problem with your CDROM driver - 4DOS just
does a DOS call to determine the ready/not ready status. A lot of
drivers fudge this call and always return "ready".
