Mike Ruskai said to Coridon Henshaw in the Fido OS2 Programming
conference on 01-30-1996:
MR> Does anyone know what the cluster size for a FAT volume would be between 16MB
MR> and 64MB?
From Ted Schulze in the RIME IBM conference:
Partition Size FAT Type Per Cluster Size
---------------- -------- ----------- -------
0 MB - 15 MB 12-bit 8 4K
16 MB - 127 MB 16-bit 4 2K
128 MB - 255 MB 16-bit 8 4K
256 MB - 511 MB 16-bit 16 8K
512 MB - 1023 MB 16-bit 32 16K
1024 MB - 2048 MB 16-bit 64 32K
(1) Sectors are 512 bytes in size.
(2) This applies to MS-DOS versions 3.2, 3.21 3.3, 3.3a, 4.0,
4.01, 4.01a, 5.0, and 5.0a.
(3) The 4K cluster size for the 0-15MB size is for compatibility with
the 4K cluster size used on PC/XT 10MB drive and DOS 2.x
