On 10-11-09, SHANNON TALLEY said to EARL CROASMUN: ST>Hi Earl, -> ~> option on the table is the 44,000 who died last year because they were -> uninsured. -> I doubt that very many people die from lack of insurance, but it has -> nothing to do with the "public option" aspect of the bill. The uninsured ST>Let's talk about that number for a moment, the 44,000 number. You ST>politely declined it's authenticity. John stated something less elegant. ST>Nonetheless, let's talk about that number before moving forward. ST>It's true. I made a mistake when I typed the number. It was 45,000. ST>Sorry, I won't make that mistake again. That number of yours has a lot of holes in it. Where did that number come from? Who keeps count of such things? How do you know its accurate? How do you know *what* any of those (supposedly) 44,000 (now revised upward by you to 45,000) people died of? Is there a National Register of Those Who Died For Lack of Health Care? ST>http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSTRE58G6W520090917 ST>WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly 45,000 people die in the United States each ST>year -- one every 12 minutes -- in large part because they lack health ST>insurance and can not get good care, Harvard Medical School researchers ST>found in an analysis released on Thursday [17 Sep 09]. And this doesn't even say what *you* are claiming. *You* say that 45,000 people die each year due to lack of health care. Your Reuters story says they die *in large part* because of lack of health care. But they fail to mention *how large a part*.....nor do they explain how they come by their numbers. ST>On one hand, we have the republicans forcing an empty solution down our ST>throat, and on the other hand - we have a solution which provides health ST>insurance to my friends and family who currently don't have any. Um.....`excuse me'? *The republicans* forcing an empty solution down our throats? The last time I looked......Obama was a democrat. So is Chris Dodd, so is Pelosi, so is Reid! And this whole issue is being pushed by *the democrats*! I think you better take a look at *who* exactly is pushing this gigantic boondoggle, `cause you're not making any sense, here. ST>You guys realize we trail behind countries like France in providing basic ST>health and human services to our citizens? We're pretty low on that list. Who makes up these `lists'? ST>You guys bash the program but you don't argue for a better solution. I'm ST>telling you that human lives are at stake and arguing against solutions ST>that provide these services isn't productive (it's all mho). If the democrat health care bill is so stinkin' good......why don't the democrats want anyone to read it before its pushed through both Houses of Congress and signed into law by the president? Once something becomes the law of the land.....its difficult if not impossible to rectify it when it goes terribly wrong. We need to back off of this about five yards or so, and give it a thorough looking at, before we let the democrats lay something on us that we will regret for years to come. And one really good way to do that would be to have a public publication of the whole bill, let us see it, read it, understand all its implications, and in its final legislative form (if it ever gets that far) passed without any *riders*, or other unwanted legislation getting attached to it. Ddon't look for that any time soon. --- *Durango b301 #PE** Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 SEEN-BY: 5030/1256 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
