Oh I believe there are still several out there, I doubt nothing when
it comes too computer geeks like us. I still have a closet full of
386 and 486 parts, I host my own linux box just so I know for a fact
my email address won't change.

But the only way I can ever see BBS systems making a "comeback" is
telnet based systems. I can't honestly see people reverting from
graphical environments at broadband speeds back to text based
graphics on dial up.

I wouldn't doubt a large number of telnet systems pop up all the time
but I'm willing to bet just like the old BBS days that most new systems
vanish within a few months due to lack of interest.

I might be proven wrong on this, but I can't see anything that
revolves around modems ever becomming really popular again. That
technology has reached it's physical limits really.

As far as government trying to encroach on my privacy, what exactly are
they going to do? Read my email? There's nothing in any of my emails
that I would honestly care if anyone saw. If there was, I wouldn't
be sending text based information across thousands of networks all
the time. :)

But again, maybe that's just my point of view. Heck, I don't even
have a land line anymore nor a desire to get one due to telemarketers
bothering me. Telephone "SPAM" made me cancel it. So it's not like
I could call a BBS if there was any good ones localy.
