All part of the main plot.  The related subplot component was where I
pitched her off the roof of the barn and into the dung heap in the back.
She's the one who chose the dung heap, though; a la Hobson's choice.  It
was either jump for the dung heap or fall and go splat on the ground,
and she didn't really know that it was a dung heap until she landed in
it.  It did not improve her first impression of Planet Earth, though.
