Yeah, they do cost beaucoup bucks! Be careful though
if you see a tempting ad in the paper. Some people have been
known to try to get rid of an ill (and possibly incurable)
bird for a low price. Ask around in your area for an avian
vet. Usually they will know the names of breeders in your
locality. Ours even allow the breeders to post notices of
birds for sale in their offices. If you find some breeders
you are interested in, you can ask for references from
previous customers. Bird clubs are good too; but be careful
of the "backbiters"... found that in the parrot club in
this area, there is a lot of bad-mouthing behind backs
going on, so it's hard to figure out which are poor
breeders and which ones are just the victims of jealousy
or personality conflicts!
