Hello, Roy. -=> ROY J. TELLASON wrote to LEONARD ERICKSON <=- RJT> A dollar a gig sounds pretty good to me... Too bad you dislike rebates so much. Today's paper has some pretty good deals on HDD, all after rebate. Looks like the most GB for the buck is at OfficeMax, with a WD 120GB for $60 AR. RJT> To me, a server case is typically double the width of a standard case, RJT> has a power supply on each side, and mounts more than one MB, not to RJT> mention having *lots* of drive bays... :-) We visited our daughter and SIL in Alabama last weekend - - he bought surplus from where he works an "obsolete" server for cheap. Rackmount, about 7 feet tall. Has a 15" monitor and keyboard/mouse in a pullout drawer. Has about 16 hot-swap SCSI drives showing, RAID arrays, looks like mostly 9.1GB. He says it has a GB of memory in there, and quad 400MHz processors. He didn't know if they were PII or Xeon. I asked if it had redundant power supply and he surprised me by saying he didn't think so. - - - JimH. ... "Bother!" said Pooh, as he realized his entire 'puter system is obsolete. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
