FM> What's the best way to go in these troubled times?
That's a difficult question.
First of all there's a major issue, I won't have ANY fidonet echos as
fidonet as soon as I get the unix stuff working. Are you planning on
collecting comp.locuser.tml from me?
FM> A) Only talk to John. Issue 1: Do you get all the echoes from John
FM> (including LocUser & LocSysop - LocUser in particular for you for
FM> share trading).
Ok, since I won't be sending fidonet traffic to John (after I cut over),
there will no longer be share trading via LOCUSER. Do you have an internet
address?
FM> Issue 2: Do your points who have not yet converted
FM> to John or elsewhere also get all the echoes.
I don't think anyone who hasn't moved has actually disconnected from any
echos (there's not much point in disconnecting from an echo if there's no
traffic in it anyway!). I'm not sure what the question is though.
FM> B) Talk to John for everything except LocUser & LocSysop. Issue 2 still
FM> applies.
You can have this setup for maybe another week or so (this Linux stuff is a
pain in the arse, last night I spent 4 hours attempting to recompile the
kernel to include PPP and I still haven't been successful!). Getting those
echos from John means there's an extra delay because you're going via an
extra system.
FM> C) Check origin lines for where people are coming from. Write/reply to
FM> them there, for all echoes.
Yeah, you can dual-point if you want.
FM> What do you think? I guess my ideal would be a total switch to John for
FM> the time being - if that maintains connectivity with all the people I
FM> want to talk to & hear from.
Yes, that will cover everything except people posting into AUST_AVTECH etc
from here, but I think people will stop doing that and start posting in
LOCUSER instead, e.g. Brenton wrote a message in AUST_AVTECH and I replied
to it in LOCUSER.
BFN. Paul.
