Yes I did have a question, and no it isn't solved.
When I first installed Win95 it ran like greased lightning even on this old
386dx40, but now it runs about like a 286 as far as speed goes.
When I sent the other message I used the example of mail tossing to show
how it had slowed down, but I think that misled some to surmise that it was
squish that was the problem. It's the same squish that was tossing 10 msgs
per sec as compared to now at about 2 msgs per sec.
Everything else has slowed down also.
Setup here:
386DX40 with SPEED installed which clocks the cpu at 65 mhz. That little
prog also reworks the registers and such and brings it up to about a 486DX66.
I was just wondering why the slow down, and asked if the more applications
and programs that are installed, the slower this thing runs?
Other than that, I have been extremely pleased with Win95. Compared to 'that
other operating system' it has been trouble free from installation.
The reason I switched is that I use a CDROM as one of my doors on The
AmaRad BBS and I couldn't get it to access under the other system. Windows
recognized it right away and let me use it.
I have installed my sound card drivers also, but after Win95 boots up to the
desktop, I can't access anything like MIDI or CDAUDIO. When I try it tells
me that the sound card is already in use.....go figure....
So there are still a lot of things I need to learn about this system but
all in all I am very happy with it. I think the rest is 'pilor error'.
Everyone should be glad I'm not a real pilot....
Thanks for the message.
Ken
