Which "board"? Motherboard or Sound card?

And double check the docs. Sometimes (especially on motherboards) the
docs will cover *optional* features that your particular version of the
board may not have.

JP> Is there a Y available for this so that I can use either CD

The two wire connector on the CD is some sort of digital. the 4 wire is
stereo audio. And I seriously doubt that there are any Y cables
available, as they'd result in a royal *mess* if you had an audio CD in
both drives and accessed both.

JP> Also, I have a front of the box connector for a mike and
JP> headset. There are two cables running inside that I have not
JP> connected as the end connectors are marked : audio in and out
JP> & ground and such for the two cables but the board is not

Depends on the board. And unless it's an "integrated" system all from
one vendor, there's a good chance that the motherboard may not support
all the stuff that you've got on the front panel.

Without part or model numbers for the components, we aren't going to be
able to help you.
